Your privacy matters to us. This notice explains what personal data we collect and process across the WaySure website and WaySure app, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Processing is done in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

II. Scope

This policy applies to the WaySure website and WaySure app, including when you buy or activate cover, submit a claim, join as an agent, or send us a form. It does not cover third-party websites that we do not control.

III. Data collections and uses

A. Data we collect

• Personal information: identifiers, contact details, account details, communications, beneficiary details, and preferences.
• Policy and payment data: the plan you choose, premiums paid, and records needed to issue and administer cover.
• Trip and device data: activation time, GPS location, movement and impact events recorded by the app to confirm cover was on before you travelled and to support a claim.
• Demographic data: high-level attributes you choose to share.
• Usage and device data: interaction information and technical diagnostics, including cookies or similar technologies used to remember preferences and measure engagement.
• Camera access (when enabled in the app): used to capture images you choose to submit of yourself, your ID, or proof of an incident for identity verification and claims. Access occurs only with your consent.
• Data from other sources: limited information from the underwriter, service providers, and publicly available sources as permitted by law.

B. How we use data

• Issuing, activating and administering your WaySure policy.
• Assessing and paying claims, including checking activation and trip records.
• Responding to enquiries and managing agent applications.
• Sending necessary notifications and communications.
• Operating, securing, and improving our website and app.
• Meeting legal, regulatory, and record-keeping requirements, including FAIS and insurance law.

C. Cookies and related technologies

We use necessary cookies and similar technologies (including local storage and SDKs) to provide core functionality and understand usage. You can control these in your browser or device settings.

D. Data sharing and disclosure

• The underwriter, Guardrisk, for policy and claims purposes.
• Topaz Financial Services, which distributes and administers WaySure.
• Service providers (hosting, payments, analytics, communications, support).
• Authorities or advisors where required by law, safety, or security.

We do not sell your personal information.

E. Data retention and deletion

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal and operational requirements, including the period we must retain insurance and financial records. You can request deletion (subject to legal exceptions).

IV. Choice and transparency

• Contact us to access, correct, or delete your data.
• Opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
• Manage cookies and analytics in your browser or device settings.
• You may withdraw consent for optional camera or location features in your device settings. Core cover and claims may still need location and activation records.

V. Legal information

A. Responsible party

Topaz Financial Services, a licensed Financial Services Provider (FSP 45531), is the responsible party for personal information processed to distribute and administer WaySure. Guardrisk is the underwriter and may process personal information as an operator or responsible party for underwriting and claims, as applicable.

B. Legal bases

• Consent.
• Conclusion or performance of a contract (your policy).
• Legitimate interests.
• Legal obligations.

C. International data transfers

We may process and store data in countries outside South Africa with appropriate safeguards as required by law.

D. Children

WaySure cover is for people aged 18 and over. Our website and app are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

E. Updates to this notice

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will post an updated version on this page with a new effective date.
